Determining what Julian's party theme proved to be much easier than I imagined it would be (with only two weeks to spare). I just asked him one day on the way home from school what type of party he wanted for his birthday. His response, "I want microphones, guitars, and music!!" Mommy's interpretation of that, a Run DMC inspired party that blended most of his requests with a bit of old school hip-hop flavor! Mind you Julian also has suddenly developed a huge break-dancing and beat-boxing love that we have no clue where it started.
I knew graffiti needed to be part of the theme, what better way then a personalized backdrop where all the kids (and adults) could take pictures.
My awesome hubby built the stage!
45's were used as his birthday banner (truly keeping it old school)
The cake was made by Dawn Clayton and it not only looked great, it tasted even better! Cannot wait til she has a website up, her work is awesome!
Brandi of Joyful Cookies totally rocked these cookies out!
Of course microphones had to be a part of the party!
Jess from Party Box Design came through like the Rock Star she is on the cupcake toppers!
My wonderful mom carved this and made the Edible Arrangement like skewers
JAD Rice Krispy treats with a red microphone for added flair
Of course we had to give CD's away as favors!
We also added record chocolate lollipops to make the favor super sweet!
Birthday boy in front of his banner giving his I am "HARD" face. :-)
Offering up the mic to one of his party guests! He shares so well.
It was an awesome day! Julian had so much fun and the parents and kids alike are talking about the next party.
